Conference Synopsis

TAITA-SV will host its 2014 annual conference on Saturday, May 10, 2014 in San Jose. The theme for this year’s annual conference is New Lifestyle and Business Enabled by Emerging Technology. Particularly, we focus on the emerging technology arenas and disruptive business models that have a high potential to change our lifestyle and reshape the industry value chains.

The 2014 TAITA-SV Annual Conference will be featured with three outstanding afternoon guest speakers with distinctive venture capital industry-leading track records in their respective major regions of business practices, namely, Silicon Valley and Taiwan. They will share their key insights and provide a high-level guidance for the likely technology business evolutions over the next 5 years. A new “On-Stage Sofa Chat” format is being adopted this year at our annual conference to better promote thought-provoking discussions among the speakers and audiences. Additionally, two Panels will be offered to address 1. Wearable Devices: Impact and Opportunity to be moderated by Dr. Huang Lee, and 2. From Engineer to Technical Lead/Manager to be moderated by Dr. Kelin Lee. The first panel aims to provide a refreshing perspective on the fast emerging Wearable Devices industry sector, and the second panel aspires to help younger engineering professionals who intend to migrate from the engineering to management track in their future career paths.

The 2014 AC will culminate at the evening banquet keynote speech by Rongjin Lin, who currently holds the position at TTY Biopharm Co., Ltd. in Taiwan as Chairman & CEO. Mr. Lin also held several chief executive management roles in various pharmaceutical and medical device companies for over the past 30 years. Mr. Lin is specializing in company re-structuring and building pharmaceutical business strategy and establishing strategic management. From a traditional generic pharmaceutical company to a new drugs development biotech pharmaceutical company, Mr. Lin has been leading TTY through various difficult restructuring stages and helped TTY to become the first restructured local pharmaceutical company in Taiwan. He drove TTY to be listed as a public company and trade- over-counter under the Biotechnology Industry session of Taiwan stock market. Mr. Lin has also been actively participating in the formation of many medical device start-ups in both Taiwan and Silicon Valley.
